Compounding

In banking, the meaning of “compounding” is as follows:
“Compounding is the addition of interest to the principal amount of a loan or deposit, or in other words, interest on interest. It is the result of reinvesting interest, rather than paying it out, so that in the next period interest accrues on the principal plus the previously accrued interest.” (according to en.wikipedia)

“Once a suggestion has been accepted by the subject, it is easier for subsequent suggestions to be accepted!”

Exactly this rule is used in compounding. The suggestion is always the same.
In principle, a word or a strong sentence is simply repeated more often to the test person.
This creates an intensification effect.

The effectiveness of many techniques in hypnosis undergoes a phenomenon of repetition.
This is one of the keys to success.

Inner attitude of the subject towards suggestions:

  • First suggestion accepted: “I like this suggestion” …and I know it works for me…
  • The second suggestion was accepted: “I liked the first one, I like this one too”.
  • Suggestion three was accepted: “I liked the first one, the second one and I like this one”.

“If you repeat the same suggestion over and over again, its effect increases “exponentially”.

So to speak:
1) “I like the first suggestion”.

2) “I love the former, and I love the latter.
+ “I like the first suggestion”(1)

3) “I love the first, and the second, and I love the third”.
+ “I like the first one, and I like the second one + “I like the first suggestion”(2)
=
6x “I like this first suggestion” +
3x “I like this second suggestion” +
1x “I like this third suggestion”.

Example:
Tell your subject: “I want you to internalize this sentence.”
Then repeat 5 times: “You are a non-smoker, and you will remain a non-smoker for the rest of your life!”

Then say: “I want you to repeat this sentence in your mind.”
Then repeat 5 times: “I am a non-smoker and will remain a non-smoker for the rest of my life!”

Then say: “I want you to repeat this sentence out loud and feel it.”
Then repeat 5 times: “I am a non-smoker and will remain a non-smoker for the rest of my life!

Application in practice

Compounding is a very effective technique. It can be incorporated at the end of every session as well as being used as a stand-alone hypnosis session.
A session could be conducted according to the following steps:

  1. Work out a powerful sentence or word with the subject in the preliminary talk
  2. Lead into hypnosis by means of induction
  3. Reinforce somnambulism
  4. Compounding
  5. Leading out of hypnosis
